On a chilly Saturday morning in Cincinnati, almost 240 Speakers, Organizers, Volunteers, and Attendees gathered for the third Cincinnati Day of Agile. This installment grew in size and content – going from one track to three, adding an true keynote speaker, and moving into a conference center for the event (major thanks to Microsoft for hosting the first two Days of Agile here in Cincinnati, and continuing to be a major sponsor for the event).
Our keynote was none other than internationally renowned ALM/Agile expert Joel Semeniuk, Microsoft Regional Director, Microsoft MVP in ALM, Certified Scrum Master, PMP, and Executive Vice President for Telerik’s ALM Division (the developers of TeamPulse Agile Project Management Software). Joel delivered an awesome keynote talking about where Agile came from, where it is now, and what the most likely future for the Agile movement will be.
Following the keynote, speakers from all the country came it to share their knowledge. What experience, do you ask? Among the speakers we had 2 Microsoft Regional Directors, 5 Microsoft MVP’s, 7 published authors, and 4 international speakers. Although we are still going through the reviews, spot checking throughout the day showed that we picked the right group of speakers, as they were all very well received. Overall, there was a lot of knowledge sharing, and attendees indicated that they went away with a lot of information to process.
Who came to the event? While we didn’t make company affiliation, title, or job role required, we had most of the registrants indicate these details. All in all (from those that responded with company information), we had over 100 different companies represented! There were roughly twice as many non-developers in the audience as developers, with all roles represented, from developers, testers, project managers, all of the way up to directors and CEOs!
A special thanks to our Platinum sponsor (Telerik), and our gold sponsors (Microsoft, Strategic Data Systems and CincyTech), our silver sponsors (Maxtrain, Agile Alliance, Scrum.org) and our swag sponsors (Apress Publishing, O’Reilly Publishing), and Gaslight Software for graphic design support! This event couldn’t have happened without your support!
In the next few weeks, the leadership team will have an event retrospective to go over what we need to improve, what we should keep the same, as well as things that we need to start. We will also be posting the content from the conference on our event homepage, http://cincydayofagile.org/.
Happy coding (and improving with agile)!
